This policy explains how Lawnmower Guides researches, writes and updates its content.

Independence

Our editors decide what to cover and what to recommend. Manufacturers and retailers do not review or approve our articles before publication, and we do not accept payment for coverage. Affiliate commissions (see our Affiliate Disclosure) do not change our recommendations.

Research and sources

We base our guides on manufacturer operator's manuals and specification sheets, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission lawn mower safety guidance, ANSI/OPEI B71 safety standards, and university Cooperative Extension turfgrass guidance. Where a claim matters for safety, health or a buying decision, we link to or name the source. When evidence is limited or mixed, we say so.

How we choose products

Buying guides and comparisons explain the selection criteria we used, such as features, specifications, compatibility, ease of cleaning or maintenance, safety information and published recalls. Specifications come from manufacturers and are checked against the product listing at the time of writing; they can change, so please confirm details before you buy.

We are clear about testing. Unless an article describes how we tested a product ourselves, our recommendations are based on research, published specifications and documentation, not hands-on testing. We never invent test results, star ratings, prices or customer reviews.

Use of AI tools

We may use AI tools to help with research summaries or first drafts. Every article is reviewed and edited by a person before publication, and that person is responsible for checking facts against sources.

Safety-sensitive topics

Lawn mowers have sharp, fast-moving blades and can throw debris. Read the operator's manual, wear closed shoes and eye protection, and keep children and pets away while you mow. Before any cleaning, inspection or blade work, stop the engine, wait for the blade to stop, and disconnect the spark plug wire or remove the battery or safety key. Never disable or bypass safety features such as blade-control handles or seat switches. Refuel only with the engine off and cool, and store gasoline in an approved container. Mow across slopes with a walk-behind mower and follow the manufacturer's slope limits for riding mowers.

Corrections and updates

If we find an error, we correct it. We show an updated date only when an article has actually been revised. To report an error, please use our Contact page.
